Huge Duck Effigy Great Pipe Black Pipestone Pace Pipe I am listing some pieces from my personal collection of which this is one, so please check my other listings. This is an absolutely awesome pipe carved by Tali Two Feathers, a Native American master carver who is now retired. His work is becoming scarce and the pieces that do come available now are coming out of collections and are usually snapped up quickly. This is a very rare museum quality piece, it is a very large black pipestone duck effigy Great Pipe. This piece is intentionally not signed to maintain the authenticity, so this one could actually pass for an ancient pipe. This pipe will be a cherished part of any collection. The pipe is in excellent condition, the lines you see in the bowl and near one of the eyes are called soft lines. They are naturally occurring parts of the stone and are not cracks. They catch the light of the camera flash, but they don't actually stand out much in person and give the piece an even more authentic look. The pipe is huge, measuring 7 1/4 inches long, 4 3/8 inches tall, the bowl is 2 1/4 inches across and the pipe weighs nearly 4 pounds. The Native Americans did not smoke pipes for the sake of smoking as people do today. They believed smoking to be very spiritual and combined it with prayer and communion with the Great Spirit.
