EXQUISITE C1880-ANTIQUE 10K ROSE GOLD FILLED & AMETHYST BANGLE-35GM This is a STUNNING Victorian 12k Rolled Rose Gold and Amethyst Bangle with a LARGE central Amethyst that is Marquis cut ...t are scrolls in the shape of HEARTS with finely beaded edges on either side.. ....This is an absolutely BREATHTAKING bangle ! The photos aRe rather dull, but it was very overcast outside today..I always like to take my photos outside in direct sunlight to give a true indication of the item. I am offering this at a tiny start price as whilst t are no dings or dents , the only fault is the stone has two chips on the bottom , but this is barely noticeable when being worn..as they are on the facets and I would wear it as it is ! ..so dont miss this one ! HISTORY This is Circa 1880 by its design and styling... These bangles are extremely collectable and highly sought after. This is a VERY RARE find due to its size and the large bezel set amethyst and also the gorgeous repousse carvings of heart scrolls .. and it has that wonderful antique soft rose gold color ..you will be hard pressed to find another like this one....just a unique and beautiful heirloom from times gone by Due to its design and weight, this may have been a commissioned piece and would have belonged to a lady of wealth for those times..so fascinating..! Although not stamped for gold content the outer surface tests positive at a minimum of 12 karat gold. And is either rolled gold or gold filled.. Just in wonderful condition ! . Antique rolled gold jewelry is considered to be equivalent to todays low karat gold, and this one looks like solid gold .Prior to 1907 carat gold was not required to be hallmarked. DESCRIPTION & SIZING The large center stone is Marquis cut. It is bezel set and a deep purple color.. a wonderful compliment to the rose gold filled setting It is an oval hinged bangle and these old heavy bracelets command very high book prices on antique websites that range from the mid to very high hundreds....due to its unique solid carvings with this fabulous width . It has no dings or dents in the band. The front measures 1 1/8" wide graduating down to 1/2" at the back... The stone is LARGE and measure 1" in length by 5/8" and is approx 30 carats I was informed the stones are Amethyst .... FANTASTIC! It measures approx 7 " inside , and this size is rare for Victorian times and would fit a wrist from 5 1/2- 6 1/.2" very comfortably. This is a beautiful looking piece when worn. . . It has been gold soldered together at some time.. and I have also done this to several of my bangles as it eliminates the problem with clasps or catches. It simply slips over the wrist .. I have a 6 1/2" wrist and it slips beautifully over my hand..and will probably go a bit higher as it is very oval in shape and easily goes over the hand and fingers. This weighs approx 35 grams an lovely substantial weight... which further adds to its appeal ! The only fault I can see is that t is a tiny dimple on the side of the band, and a tiny bit of edge wear near the hinge and clasp ..but this is consistent with age and i would think would polish up nicely to restore it to its former glory ...The stone has two chips at the bottom, and when being worn you cant detect it as luckily the chips are on the facets.... but you could replace if desired but I would wear it as it is.. This is a MUST for the collector of UNIQUE Victorian rose gold bangles or amethyst collector..
