An absolutely stunning piece of handcrafted and hand painted Capodimonte, clearly impressed with the signature of the artist, Sandro Maggioni and dated 1976 This is an extremely rare piece and is LARGE, measuring an impressive 30cm w x 24cm d x 28cm h !!! It is, what I would describe as, a 'head turner' and would be a beautiful centrepiece of any room...it is just pure quality! Unfortunately, there has been some amount of damage to it which I will try and describe... Both of the lady's little fingers are missing (easily repaired!) There is 'something' missing I believe from the wicker basket handles as there seems to be 2 tiny 'rough' patches directly under and above each handle (almost impossible to spot!) As I have never seen another one of these pieces, it's very hard to say BUT, I am guessing there was probably a spinning wheel in front of the lady (I say this as she is holding wool and there are various reels of it on the floor - plus, there is what I would assume to be, a framework base on the floor which has 5 'rough' feeling areas where the framework of the spinning wheel would have been - her foot also appears to be on a treadle!!??) - I could be completely and utterly wrong about this but that is my, admittedly somewhat naive, opinion!
