I have for auction an absolutely magnificent and very large CARLTON WARE CHINOISERE center piece which I believe is from the 1930's. It is simply stunning. It measures approx. 18 3/4" in length and approx 8" tall. The width at the widest portion is approx. 7 3/4". It is decorated with a Chinoisere theme featuring a man interacting with a highly decorative dragon beside a tree. The background color is a beautiful robin egg blue (some say it has a turquoise color rather than blue) background and the center of this lovely piece has a beautiful creamy lustre finish; the rim both inside and out is decorated with a gold lace; t is generous gold trim on the handles as well as on the 4 beautiful feet and pedestal supporting this bowl; NOTE; For the most part this center piece is in very good condition for age; t has been an old repair to one of the gold handles (it took me some time to determine this as it is not readily noticable) (and I have tried to photograph this); t are no other chips, cracks or repairs, the gold has some rubbing commensurate with age and the lustre still bright; t is some crazing commensurate with age and one small area of light foxing mentioned for accuracy only; The feet look a little fuzzy and that is the result of some felt having been attached to them to prevent damage; a very beautiful and unique piece; sold read more
