This Fabulously Ornate Sterling Silver on Red Velvet Mirror by Dominick & Haff came from a nearby estate in Landrum, SC this last month, w it had been in storage for over 10 years. Despite that, it is in EXCELLENT antique condition as you will see in the pictures below, just in need of a more thorough cleaning, it has no damage of any kind to the silver, the only so called damage that I can see is the silvered mirror has some spots and flakes as old Victorian mirrors do, and the original ribbon that held the stand in place has been replaced with a screwed in chain which prevents it from being folded flat, but which can easily be replaced. T is also a red lace like material around the edge of the frame which has come unglued along the bottom edge, again a very simple fix should you see fit. - The sterling repousse or embossed surround is stamped with the Dominick & Haff logo stamp and also the number 1580 and 18 In. (for 18 inches). The actual size of the frame including the cartouche area at the top which is NOT MONOGRAMMED, is 13 x 19 1/4 inches maximum linear or outside measurements, the size of the bevelled edge mirror, visible surfaces only, is 8 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches. The design on the sterling is wonderfully ornate and very Victorian. The are game birds, roses, acanthus, scallops and scrolls everyw and all intermingled, and read more
