First of all, there are THREE leaves for sale on this auction, but I only show scanned images for the 1st of the three. Also, t his LEAF IS JUST TOO BIG FOR MY SCANNER TO GET THE ENTIRE PAGE! A rare 1 8th century antique Buddhist handwritten manuscript THREE sheets from Tibet (the homeland of the Dalai Lama), containing Sutra or the canonical scriptures, which are the records or interpretations of the oral teachings of Gautama Buddha. This T HREE leaves has a large area of indigo black background on the thick, hand-made Mulberry paper, with the text written in silver or white ink. I can't read the text, but I can s tate that the text on both sides is complete as it is ; it is not a continuation from previous pages; the beginning of th e text o n this leaf is indicated by the three-part symbol , consisting of a backwards double "c" and followed by a vertical stroke (see the 4th scanned image, top left). The words in the left margin probably give the title and page number. Very interesting. These THREE sheets is very large and the size is about 5 1/2 in. x 19 1/2 in., which is TOO BIG FOR MY SCANNER TO GET THE ENTIRE PAGE! T he Buddhist Tibetan writing is on both sides.
