Margot de Taxco Sterling Mexican Brooch 1940s Retro Antique & Vintage Jewelry:Vintage:Silver, Sterling:Margot De Taxco:Mexican:Brooch:Pin:Retro ( This huge dimensional Margot de Taxco signed brooch makes quite an impression. At 3-1/4 by 1-3/4 inches, it's some kind of wonderful. The dimensional curvilinear design resembles entwined leaves or hearts. Very Retro. I'd date this piece to the late 1940s, shortly after Margot opened her shop in 1948. The all-important marks on the back are as follows: "Sterling Made in Mexico" in a circle, "Margot de Taxco 5196 (design no.) and the earliest Eagle stamp with No."16" in the middle. Condition is excellent. The clasp mechanism has been repaired since the catch and hinge each sit on a platform. This work has been expertly accomplished by the former owner and the catch works well with the pin extending a tad beyond the borders of the brooch. [E25]
