This is a GORGEOUS piece of Talavera. This jug stands 14" tall and 11" from the side to side, including the handle. It is fully marked on the bottom and initialed by the artist. T are also impressed register marks on the bottom that are infilled with wax: the numbers are 045400.
I cannot begin to describe this incredible piece: please take your time to look at the pictures. The colors are rich without being gaudy and the design is vibrant and energetic. The handle alone is an example of the finest craftsmanship: it is sooo graceful and yet substantial. How in the world did the potter get the wet clay to dry without this handle caving in: furthermore, how on earth did she/he fire it with it coming apart! The piece is big and impressive, yet potted and glazed with great skill. The walls are not overly thick. These fine-art Talavera pieces are retailing in high-end design centers and galleries in Atlanta and Dallas for $250 and up. My reserve is WELL below that amount. You will be thrilled to own this piece of beautiful pottery. It is a true show piece and an art piece. Thanks for you patience. FINAL NOTE: I forgot to mention this in the description, but t is a small area on the handle about 1/4" w the glaze didn't ad during firing. I included a picture of this so you can see it. This is not a chip ... it looks to me like the spot might have accidentally touched another piece while in the kiln. It is so minor. You could look at this piece everyday for a year and probably not notice it. But, I wanted to let you know.
