Beautiful Ornate Sterling Silver footed bowl - measures 14 3/4" long X 8.5 wide X 3" tall at the upturned ends and weighs 22 ounces. The bowl is very heavy and well made with the silver being almost an 1/8" thick along the edges. The markings indicate the bowl is manufactured by Reed and Barton and is sterling silver. Since t are no Reed and Barton date marks, this piece was made prior to 1928. The bowl is in exceptionally excellent condition with no dents, dings and is in almost new condition with the finest superficial scratches which may easily be buffed out - a lot less than one would expect on a bowl this old. The bowl appears to be handmade by close examination and t are no hammer marks. The design is exquisite, with beautiful ornate feet, egg and dart applique running along the rim, floral and scroll appliques and chased scroll work on the surface. The bowl would make an excellent centerpiece and is a fine addition to any collection.
