PERIOD: Cretaceous (80,000,000 years)LOCALITY: Mahajanga, MadagascarFORMATION: AlbianImage picturing how an ammonite looked when living. DESCRIPTION: Offered is a Cleoniceras ammonite from Madagascar. It has been cut in half and polished to show the internal chambers, often filled with calcite crystals. The outside surface can grade from a pearly luster to showing the suture pattern under it. Often, the matrix remaining in the center outside spiral can be scraped out. Some of these also have hollow chambers lined with crystals. These make great display items and would make a nice addition to anyones collection.
