Antique birdcage of the finest quality. A rare parrot sized usable functional but so very decorative bird sanctuary . Owned by Frank Navin baseballs meanest manager. Navin who once let legend Ty Cobb out of his contract over a dollar, had Detroit Tigers Michigan Navin Stadium named in hs honor. Frank Navin kept an African Grey in ths 19th century German made brass wire delight until his death in at the height of the Great depression 1935. One can only imagine what that bird over heard as ballplayer greats dined in style and luxury, at the Navin mansion. This amazing birdcage was sent by Navins widow to Goodwill Industries and auctioned off in the 1960's. Please see original newspaper clipping for closeup.
