This is a beautiful old mid Century Modern hand made mosaic tile picture of the Virgin mary and Baby Jesus. It is very large and heavy. It is 21 X 40 inches and 1 inch thick. It weighs 20 pounds. The tile is wonderful. I beleive it may be glass tile. It has a beautiful luminous look! It comes from the Nopeming Sanitarium that was located in Duluth Minnesota. I belive the Catholic Charities and St, Mary's Hospital ran it .It is signed on the back. Made by David Galvin presented May 1959 to the Nopeming San. It is in wonderful condition with a few minor problems. The bottom edge has 6 missing tiles and a few chipped ones. Easy repair if you wish. The back bottom plywood also has some wood missing. This art piece it very solid and sturdy, All tiles seem very tight and secure with mortar intact. This would make a beautiful Christmas or year round display.
