HULA GIRL BACK PANEL HAND PAINT. Early 1940's vintage. In over 30 years of dealing in quality aloha wear, we've owned only a handful or two of these Holy Grails of the Golden Age, and have not seen that many more. Our current reigning Beauty is of silky, drapy rayon in a creamy eggshell coloring. It was made by the premier maker of Hand Painted & Airbrushed Aloha wear, Kawaihau. Both front & back host gorgeous examples of art. The front panel displays an environmental paradise of a palm leaf framed scene of an Hawaiian waterfall framed by volcanic cliffs. The much larger back panel depicts a gorgeous 1940's pin-up style Hawaiian wahine sitting on a soft, seafoam colored ground. The colors are exquisite. The wahine is holding her encircling icecream pink lei & is clothed in salmon pink bra and sarong. In her hair, a Huge yellow hibiscus. Banana plants frame a background of volcanic mountains against an eternally blue Hawaii sky. All original coconut buttons. Excellent condition. Size Medium. armpit to armpit: 22 1/2". Top of collar to hem: 29". Shoulder seam to seam: 17". Sleeve length: 8 1/2".
