Hum 79--"Globe Trotter" M.J. Hummel/Goebel Ca. 1972--CE (Closed Edition) Acquired from a relative's personal collection, this beautifully colored figurine, "Globe Trotter," is a charming rendition made by Goebel Hummel. It features a young boy, knapsack and umbrella at hand, marching out to conquer the world. This vintage piece is in excellent condition and is marked with the blue "Goebel: W. Germany " with V and stylized Bee on the bottom; (this stamp being first used in 1972). It is also stamped 79 on the bottom as well as having the M.J. Hummel Signature on the base (see photo detail). It stands approximately 5 1/4" tall. The first issue of this model was in 1937 by master sculptor Arthur Moeller (remodeled in 1955). It's final issue came in 1991.
