THIS MAGAZINE AD HAS BEEN AUTHENTICALLY HAND SIGNED BY HUMPHREY BOGART..................... This item is a 10 1/2" X 14",black and white ad from a vintage magazine. PLEASE NOTE-this is a magazine ad only-not the complete magazine. The magazine ad features the 1943 Warner Brothers Movie-"Action In The North Atlantic". The movie stars Humphrey Bogart and he is featured in the advertisement in an original scenes.Action in the North Atlantic is solid wartime propaganda with a rather endearing inner lining of left-wing politics, courtesy (no doubt) of scenarist John Howard Lawson, who based his screenplay on a novel by maritime specialist Guy Gilpatric. While running war goods to America's Russian allies, a merchant marine ship captained by Raymond Massey is torpedoed. The courage of Massey and his first mate Humphrey Bogart serves as an inspiration to the survivors, who manage to navigate their tiny lifeboat to America, w they are lauded as heroes. After only the briefest of compassionate leaves (Massey is reunited with wife Ruth Gordon, while Bogart strikes up a relationship with Julie Bishop), the crew is assigned a new Liberty Ship. Despite fears of being torpedoed again, Massey, Bogart, and the other men successfully bring their cargo to Russia, shooting down several German planes in the process. As the Americans are cheered on by the smiling, well-fed Russian seamen and peasants, Action in the North Atlantic fades out, with the voice of Franklin D. Roosevelt (actually radio announcer Art Gilmore) heard on the soundtrack encouraging a "United Nations" allegiance against the axis. The supporting cast of Action in the North Atlantic includes a young newcomer by the name of Bernard Zanville, whose billing was changed to "Dane Clark" upon the film's release. The magazine ad has been autographed on the front by Humphrey Bogart in blue............BOTH MAGAZINE AD AND AUTOGRAPH ARE IN NICE CONDITION.......This autograph came from the Estate of Clark Gesner, the composer and lyricist whose defining success was the 1967 smash You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Mr. Gesner (1938-2002) began collecting in 1956 when he obtained the autograph of Clark Gable. From t, he built a collection of more than 10,000 autographs. He obtained the autographs in person, from autograph dealers , or by mail. Mr. Gesner was a well-known collector and shared his collection with Brooklyn Heights area churches, schools, senior citizen groups and other organizations. As such, this item does not come with a Certificate of Authenticity. .................. .Since it is impossible for me to obtain a Certificate of Authenticity from Mr.Gesner,I am including a photo of an acetate that he made for the Christmas of 1956.The label is in his own handwriting. The metal acetate is not for sale as part of this auction. I took the photo to add to the credibility of this item. .I have 20 more documents from his estate . If you wish to see more scans, let me know............ .............If you're worried about forged autographs, that's good, because you should be. With all of the legitimate possibilities available for dealers, I find it saddening and greatly disappointing that many organizations are short changing the public and insulting the industry with fraudulent paraphernalia and blatant forgeries. Such practices harm the entire autograph industry by undermining the trust of collectors. The dishonest business practices of these organizations allow them to offer bargain-basement prices to the inexperienced and unwary collector.......... I suggest that you NEVER buy anything from anyone whom sells an item by listing the sale with the "PRIVATE FEEDBACK" option. This is a tactic that some sellers are using to sell fraudulent items w they try and make you believe that they are only doing so to help protect the potential buyers' ebay ID and identity. The true reason that they use the "PRIVATE FEEDBACK" is to hide. Would you bid on anything in a public auction if you could not see whom you were bidding against? If one is selling...
