the KISZ was the youth wing of the Hungarian Communist Party in 1919 under Bela Kun, but it was dispersed at the end of the short-lived Hungarian Soviet Republic. in 1956, it was revived as the youth wing of the Hungarian Socialist Workers Party under Janos Kadar. The KISZ was very similar to the KOMSOMOL in the USSR or the SSM in Czechoslovakia. it was for young people too old for the Pioneers but considered too young to be active members of the Hungarian Socialist Workers Party (MSZMP). they organized sporting events, social functions, and study groups. This is a rare medal from the KISz (youth wing of the Hungarian Communist Workers Party) from the Peoples Republic of Hungary (1949-1989). it says "for Loyalty to the People, Loyalty to the Party" and was awarded for merit. this is only the 2nd one i have seen in my collecting days, but this variation is different than the one in my collection. this medal has a thick convex layer of enamel over the outside ring, and the mini is lightly larger. the one for sale here is in fantastic condition. includes red display box.
