A vintage 1930s era Hutschenreuther porcelain cherub with matching base, signed by the artist, K. Tutter. The set measures approximately 7.75 inches high and 7.25 inches wide. It is in absolutely mint condition. The finely detailed cherub is marked on the bottom with the green lion hallmark and LHS initials that Hutschenreuther used in the 1930s when the company was called Lorenze Hutschenreuther Selb. The mark reads: Hutschenreuther Selb Germany Kunstabteilung. (See photos) The artist's name is impressed on the bottom: K TUTTER. Karl Tutter was one of the most prominent artists in Germany during the late 19th and early 20th centuries The winged cherub is hand-painted in great detail, and he stands on a golden globe, which is supported by an octagonal white and gold base. The cherub seems just barely able to balance on the golden globe. The base has a matching octagonal geometric shape on the bottom, decorated in gold, while the top of the bud holder is comprised of six broad scallops, with two thin lines of gold around them, and 12 holes in which to place flowers. T is a small central raised dais on which to place the cherub. The base is marked - Lorenz Hutschenreuther Germany Kunstabteilung -, and - K TUTTER - is also impressed into the base. This is a rare find, in perfect condition. Recently a similar K. Tutter cherub, but without the flower base, and not hand-painted, sold for $300 on eBay (please see item #200166455722 - Oct. 31, 2007). We accept PayPal only for this auction. No reserve.
