What you are looking at is a train start signal removed from servicein the 1980s due to a installation upgrade on a new commuter train start system of the ICGRR out of chicago. This signal has 2 red and 2 green 3 1/2 inch lenses which were used to inform the train crew when loading passengers. Red signal indicated passengers still buying tickets to load and green would light at departure time to let train crew know its ok to leave .Information was sent from the ticket agents up above. This box I believe was hand made by the ICRR date unknown. The lenses are made by a company called Major that is embossed on the lenses with brass or copper hoods and trim rings that were cleaned by abrading, not polished, so they are rough looking. It originally worked on 110 volts A.C. with appliance bulbs for lighting. The wiring was removed but can easily be rewired with little effort. The size of the signal is 6" high by 11" wide and 81/2" deep. Any questions please email me thanks for looking.
The weight of this signal is about 17 LBS so shipping is a little high.
