Presidential Oval Office Decoration - Diplomatic Shell Dish Two of these dishes are presently displayed in the Presidentâe(tm)s Oval Office. (See photo below) The dish has a backstamp stating that it was designed especially for the diplomatic reception rooms of the Department of State. (Backstamp pictured below.) Similar pieces were used in the Reagan, Bush (41) and Clinton White House and since 2000 they have been used to decorate the lamp tables in President Bushâe(tm)s office. The dish is also found in many U.S. Embassies around the world. The design is adapted from Chinese export porcelain, circa 1810, bearing one of the earliest depictions of the American eagle found in ceramic decoration. After being displayed in the White House, these dishes are often made available to members of congress to distribute as gifts and memorabilia. With the dish I will send along copies of each of the four Oval Office photographs below (without the white arrows) that will show the placement of the dishes in the Presidential offices. The overhead Oval Office photo will be 8x10 inches - All other photos will be 4x6.
