This IBM Selectric II in quintessential retro office blue powers on and all keys are responsive, but there is something wrong with the carriage mechanism. It stays in far right position. You can hold it and help it along as you press the backspace key, but as soon as you let go, it slides all the way to the right. You can also slide the carriage and it locks into position at the left, but it will not advance when typing or spacing. Hit return and it immediately slides again all the way to the right. It seems like a singular problem to fix for someone who has knowledge of these machines, and it otherwise seems to be working fine. It shows minor wear from normal use, but no serious cosmetic flaws that detract from the appearance. This is same model I used in high school typing class...Jeez, I must be getting old. I can say from two years of experience that the IBM Selectric is perfect for typewriter keyboard art! Items are sold as-is. Detailed photos are provided in the upper left corner of this page.
