Thehand carved statue is made in Taos New Mexico by a local artist Depicts the Virgin Mary. The statue is a well-composed carving and artful assembly of a dozen related cultural and folk symbols, the spiritual signature of a people. A unique piece, deserving of a wider audience or a place where it is 'home'.... The statue is amazingly well balanced on its small base, which has the name of the artist: Manuel Romero. His initials have been carved on the bottom. His PO Box address is enclosed on the bottom. We can not verify when and where he was born or whether he is still alive. The statue was bought in a small local Taos store .Height is 21” The width is 12”Shipping for buyer after price reduction.The statue was purchased in the beginning of the 1980s, but we have no idea how old it was at the time.It is entirely in its original shape; it has only been on display. It has not been damaged in any way.The weight is about 5 lbs.
