You are bidding on an original Civil War CDV photograph of U.S. Navy Gunner George Perry Cushman who served in the Union Navy from about 1861 until 1891. This photograph came out of the personal album of Naval Surgeon R.A. Lewis who served for a time on the USS Saint Louis. The album was broken up and sold separately but I was able to purchase a few images that had not been sold. All the images are ID'D to the USS St. Louis. I would not be selling this image separately had the collection not been broken up by the previous owner. Cushman was born in Massachusetts on Oct. 18, 1837 and died July 1 or 2, 1912. On Ancestry, it lists this information on his profile.Ancestry also has his Mason / Freemason / Masonic membership card, which lists his birthplace as Duxbury, Mass. He was a member of the Cornerstone Lodge and his occupation is listed as a retired naval officer. The book, "The Union Navy" by Arthur Wyllie lists Cushman as being assigned to the Saint Louis as her Gunner. This image is in great condition as it was in an album for more than 120 years. The subject is also in nice focus and very clean. !!!Posted with eBay Mobile
