Childs McClellan saddle in Very good to excellent condition for its age.The saddle is complete with all original straps, cinch and stirrups. The tree is rawhide covered.T are no rivets used in the construction of this saddle which indicate early manufacture.T is a tag attached to the saddle made of a copper type material which reads"this saddleused by the children of mrs.A.L.Williston.Lucy,Robert,Elizabeth a+ Harry in Florence Mass. From 1875-1882".I did a google search on the family and found the Father was Asahel Lyman Williston and that the children on the tag were listed along with several children that died at a young age.The family later lived in Northampton Mass. They were a very Rich and well known family and had alot to do with the Christian Mission at Mt.Holyoke Mass..I purchased this saddle along with many other Identified horse related items from Northampton Mass.
