All soldiers who complete basic training receive a very appropriate gift after the culmination of this trying period in a novice soldier's career - a Bible. Part of the logic behind this secular tradition is clear - "Let a new soldier be reminded of the historical significance of the struggle s/he is entering."

You are bidding on an authentic IDF issue Bible or Tanach. It is written in the original Hebrew Masoretic Text. According to the Jewish tradition, the first five books of the Bible were received by Moses on Mount Sinai and they were transmitted to him, word by word, directly by G-d. It has been noted by some scholar that Moses was also the author of the book of Job. This Tanach includes the first five books of Moses as well as the writings of the Prophets and other writings as is the case with all authorized versions of the Old Testament.

This particular copy was actually presented to an Israeli soldier after the completion of basic training for one of the numerous branches of the Israeli Army. The presentation ceremony is a real right of passage and is usually attended by the soldier's family and friends. As you will notice from the image of the title page which appears above, t is a collection of insignias from various Israeli units and battalions, and this is an expression of the universal unity innt among the various branches of the Israel Defense Forces. This Bible was published by the IDF Rabbinical unit which handles all the religious services provided to each and every soldier, both Jewish or Gentile, which joins the ISRAELI Army. This particular Bible was actually presented to a soldier after the successful completion of the basic training period in an elaborate ceremony as mentioned above.
