Il Ceppo is another one of those great brands that is not as well known as it should be. Although they have been around since 1978, they have not been widely available in the United States due to the small number they produce and the fact that most of their production goes to the Italian market. Il Ceppo pipes are incredible smokers as well as some of the most aesthetically pleasing pipes being made in Italy today. They are made from the finest Calabrian briar that is slow cured and results in a cool smoke and very short break-in period. All Il Ceppo pipes are made by Franco Rossi and his sister, Nadia. Il Ceppos are made in Pesaro , Italy , and are part of the âeoe Pesaro style, or school, along with Mastro de Paja and Ser Jacopo. Massimo Palazzi started out making il Ceppo pipes until he left in 1998 to found the Lâe(tm)Anatra brand. This auction is for an il Ceppo three-quarter bent billiard shape pipe. Notice the rich ring grain that has been raised by the blast surface and highlighted by the light tan finish. The smooth finish on the top of the bowl and at the end of the shank provides a harmonious contrast to the sandblasted bowl and shank for a pleasing aesthetic effect. The ring carved into the top provides an extra touch of elegance. The non-oxidizing acrylic stem is shaped to provide a high level of comfort in the mouth. read more
