You are bidding on a Imilac Pallasite Meteorite 10.8 gram Slice by 10 X 18 X 24 mm. from Atacama, Chile. This meteorite comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the Kansas Meteorite Society. It also comes with a Specimen Card. Both sides of this unique piece has been polished to a mirror finish. We take great care in handling these rare pieces by not allowing any water in the cutting and polishing process. Imilac Pallasite meteorite strewn field was first discovered by Westerners in 1822, and is located in the Atacama Desert of Chile. The nickel iron matrix is 91% Fe, 9.9% Ni, .48% O, 21 ppm Ga, 46 ppm Ge and 71 ppb Ir. The silver coloured matrix holds beautiful yellow orange to yellow green olivine crystals. The rain gauge at Calama has reportedly never received any measurable precipitation. The Atacama is a high desert with many regions over 8000 feet in elevation. The Atacama Desert of Chile is said to be one of the driest region in the world. The $3.50 shipping cost is the flat fee to ship this Meteorite anyw in the world.
