Iridescent Amethyst Carnival Glass Punch Bowl Set Matching Bowl, Base, 8 Cups Imperial Fashion Pattern? ~~~~~~~~~~ From my research I believe this is an Imperial Fashion Pattern Punch Bowl Set, circa 1910. The design has hobstars, zipperbands and diamonds in an imitation cut glass pattern strikingly similar to this pattern by Imperial. The base color is a deep medium amethyst purple, and the iridescent color hue is dark purple, blue, gold, green with electric highlights. I looked this particular pattern up and found it (I believe) in Warman's Companion Guide to Carnival Glass by Ellen Schroy. It is like that pattern Imperial # 402 1/2 with a slight variance to the pieces shown, but I could only compare it to a rose bowl, pitcher & a glass tumbler. I also looked in Bill Edwards & Mike Carwile's Carnival Glass book for a comparison, and Doty's Carnival Web Site. I found the highly desirable Amethyst Imperial Fashion punch bowl with base with a list value of $1,800 on page 71 that I believe this is. The set of 10 pieces consists of one punch bowl, matching base or stand & eight matching punch cups. It is in excellent condition with the exception of one punch that has a large chip on the rim. Please refer to the pictures. I do not think it has been used, or perhaps rarely used. The carnival finish is supurb and t are only a very few very light & small surface scratches on the pieces that are barely worth mentioning. I found no chips cracks or nicks or other damage than the one punch cup as shown in the picture. Manufacturing: T are some swirl or straw marks on the bottom of the bowl & one on top of the base from manufacturing which is expected in older glass. Measurement/weight: The punch bowl on stand is 12 1/4" in height. This set is heavy as should be expected. I will need to ship in more than one box and shipping weight is close estimated at 18 lbs . Please note, I do not profess to be an expert in carnival glass, and I am listing this to the best of my ability.
