Elegant seven-piece silver ice cream set comprising a serving spoon and six individual ice cream spoons. The ornate stems and handles contrast nicely with the parcel-gilt spade-shaped bowls that have faded to a soft lemony shade. Both the fronts and backs of the handles are decorated with a modeled cherub head against a stippled background and surrounded with acanthus leaves. The workmanship is of the very finest quality. The ice cream set could be used for its original purpose or for a variety of other deserts such as berries, custards or soufflÃf©s. Each piece is marked with Imperial Austrian hallmarks used beginning in 1886.
Origin: Austria, ca. 1890. Condition: excellent, no dings or monograms. Size: serving spoon, 7-3/4Ã,Â" long; spoons, 4-11/16Ã,Â" long. Weight: 120.75 grams.
