Very good condition and guaranteed original Imperial German 71/84 Mauser dress bayonet. This tough to find piece is engraved “Unteroffizier Engelhardt 5. Inf. Reg. 3. Komp 1900”. This bayonet was probably presented to the NCO as a gift or retirement present. Blade has original bright metal finish with a little scattered brown and has been sharpened. Remaining metal finish is original bright with a few spots of brown. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit with some handling marks, lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that has bright metal throat and tip. Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear, stitching and staples are nice and tight. Bayonet is also complete with original leather frog that is maker marked. Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear, stitching and rivets are nice and tight. Very hard to find these early pre WWI German dress bayonets with a named, unit marked blade, will make an excellent addition to your collection.
