In this auction we are offering an exceptionally rare exampleof a WWI medal bar for either a Military diplomatic assistant or Diplomatic Military Aide. Due to the medals on the bar the Officer was, in all probability, a member of the General staff assigned to an overseas diplomatic mission. The bar consist of seven pieces, A: Large Kriegsverdienst medal with non-combatant ribbon, B:Prussian 1916 Kriegsverdienst Kreuz, C: Prussian 15 year long service cross, D: Deutsches Reich Non-combatant Colonial Service Medal, E: Centenary Medal F: Austrian service medal, G: Japanese Order of the Rising Sun 7 th class early model. This beautiful bar is completed with a typical period Prussian style fold and is backed with a fine gray-green wool. The bar has a nicely rendered hinged suspension pin on the reverse. Do not miss the opportunity to own this unusual and seldom seen example of a Staff officer who apparently served a great deal of time in the far-east. Officers of this rank and position were most often assigned to observe foreign military techniques, strategies, actions in combat and in some cases were assigned to spy on potential future adversaries.
