IMPERIAL GLASS CO. USA RUBIGOLD CARNIVAL GLASS BOWL with LACE EDGE MARKED ~ c. 1950's is an absolutely beautiful Imperial Glass rubigold carnival bowl. I don't know the name of the pattern - but who cares - it is gorgeous no matter what the name is!!! This is a vintage piece from my personal collection. The outside of the bowl is covered with an embossed daisy-like flowers and leaves design. On the inside at the bottom, t is a large daisy with leaves embossed t as well. It has a small pedestal base that is embossed with wavy scrolls. Now...the rim...this is the best! The rim has a flared scalloped lace edge! Is that great or what??? The color is spectacular - it is a bright ruby red with hints of orange toward the bottom part of the bowl. The carnival shimmer picks up the golds - hence the color that Imperial Glass named "rubigold". The underside is marked with the stylized IG for Imperial Glass - it is the version of this mark that was used during the 1950's. (See picture) This bowl is 50 years old!!! T are no chips - no repairs, no rough spots; sadly, t is a small hairline crack - about 1 inch long running from the edge on the inside of the bowl. I can see it, but I cannot feel it - it does not jeopardize the integrity of the bowl in any way. It does not appear to go through to the outside of the bowl. (See picture) This read more
