Offered for your consideration, is a very nice Mt. Vernon, No. 699 crystal pitcher w/ice lip, manufactured by the Imperial Glass Co., 1920s-1970s. This pattern was first introduced in the early 1920s by Imperial under the name Prism Crystal. This pattern was designed by Philip Ebeling who also designed Fostoria's, American pattern. In the 1930s the name was changed to Mt. Vernon....then in 1940, Mt. Vernon was then marketed as Washington. This pitcher has a nice prismatic design with extended tip handle. The base also has the prismatic design. From the base to the top of the ice lip, this piece measures 9" in height and holds 48 oz. I have inspected this pitcher carefully and it is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The rim, spout and ice lip are smooth to the touch. The inside of the rim has two tiny "faint" strawmark lines....a minor manufacturer flaw. The glass shines, beautifully....has excellent clarity, with no residue......this piece, sparkles! The only flaw I could find are two "tiny" rough dots on the outside handle seam.....both are very tiny and minor, I just wanted to mention it. This Mt. Vernon, No. 699 pitcher looks lovely on display and would be a nice addition to your Imperial or elegant glassware collection. This pitcher is quite heavy weighing 3 1/2 lbs. unpacked.
