I am offering this beautiful Green 11 1/2" Vase with a 3 1/2" opening which was made by the Imperial Glass Company. Imperial tried to compete with the high end glassmakers such as Tiffany, Loetz, etc., and so began their Free Hand Art Glass line which was only made for a short period of time (1916 - 1924) before Imperial had to quit because costs became so prohibitive to continue making. This particular piece is called their Free Hand Lead Lustre Vase and is published in the Imperial Glass Book Volume II. The base class is cobalt blue. The main finish color that appears is a complex Green with shading to Amethyst around the neck, rim and base. There also appear beautiful highlights of golds, blues and purples around the whole exterior. The finish on this runs from a Lustre to a High Gloss finish. There are some very minor marks on this vase and really not worth mentioning but will do so anyway, they are; rub marks on the base coming off the pontil center and another linear rub mark, also natural wear marks around the base where vase would sit on a surface, on the outside of the vase there is a 1" horizontal line (surface mark not a scratch to glass and a 1/4" diagonal fine surface scratch along the side). There are NO chips, cracks, breaks or repairs to this fine piece of art glass. I try to mention all subtlties so my buyers know what to expect. Simply superb in design, color and finish, a must have for that discriminating collector of Fine Art Glass. I am sorry to say that my camera was not able to pick up the true brilliant and vivid colors of this vase, so please be aware that the colors are not true in in my images and much more brilliant than able to show. As with all of my Fine Higher End Art Glass pieces, I will accept layaways. Please checkout my Durand Blue Lustre Vase and Loetz Vase with Stag Handles I also have listed on GoAntiques.
