Very rare and original 1896 dated silver covered bowl. The catrouches are maker "VG". I believe that this is for V. S. Grishin, St. Petersburg, 1895-99. AA 1896 St. Petersburg, 1896. 84 fo rthe silver content and St. George on horse for same. The decoration is awesome. Two sparrow style birds on each side of the front with a flowered center are for a name or monogram. Blank presently. The hand engraved banding decoration go around the bowl and the cover. Each handle is signed, the bottom is signed, the bottom rim is signed and the cover is signed. Superb condition except the slightest endent on the bottom rim and I purposely photos it to show it as it is neglianle and can be easily straightened. The diameter of the bowl is 4 inches. The heigh tis 5-1/2 inches. The bowl is very heavy and in fact heavier than my jewelry scale. Very heavy. This is a wonderful and very rare piec eof Imperial Tsarist Russian silver. 100% original. No reserve. First time offered.
