From the ebony handle to the fine peaked finial to the square base and the bun-footed burner stand. This is a fine example of a "pouring teapot" which is a highly functional way to keep the tea warm. A small candle, oil burner or sterno cannister would burn in the base while the teapot could be tilted in place to pour the tea. This piece will come to you in the condition in which it was found, never buffed, from a New Hampshire estate. This is a museum-quality piece that would be an important addition to any fine collection. If you would like to see more (larger) photos we would be happy to email them to you.
