An important & early coin silver compote/bowl. A beautiful piece. Very ornate & exquisitely made. Pristine condition. No marks or dings. It has not been cleaned. Great workmanship with fruits & flowers in a bold "repousee" pattern. The base, edges, handles are intricately patterned & scalloped. Ribbed sides. The base is stamped: 800 & VC in an oval shaped escutcheion. T is a third hallmark, but I could not make it out. This is a large bowl. It measures 14" by 7 1/2" & weights close to 800gms or 12 ounces. It came from a very old estate & the previous owners told me it was "American" made. But I am not a silver expert-you be the judge. I have a moderate reserve to protect my interest. eBay has not been a gold mine lately. International buyers: We prefer to ship via Express Mail International or Prioriy Mail International. Insurance is required on all purchases & do not ask me to falsify the custom form. Please contact us by email after the auction ends as to how you would prefer to have the item shipped. US buyers: We prefer to ship via Priority mail with insurance & delivery confirmation. 1) Please contact us before bidding if you have less than 20 feedbacks. Also unverified buyers' bids will not be honored. 2) Payment is expected within 10 days of the end of the auction otherwise we reserve the right to relist the item.
