IMPORTANT FEDERAL PERIOD MAHOGANY SECRETARY DESK WITH SANDWICH GLASS KNOBS CIRCA 1800 MASSACHUSETTS . This piece is loaded with Massachusetts period charm. In perfect scale and proportion is this original Period Secretary Desk on chest. This is what is commonly referred to as a " North Shore " piece being crafted in one of the Massachusetts china trade port cities of Essex, Salem or Peabody Massachusetts . This piece is designed with finely crafted individual paned Cathedral windows on its Secretary doors consisting of three on each door and original opaque Sandwich Glass knobs fitted to its three drawers. The chest's base, with its three drawers, is topped by a fold over writing desk surface that is supported by pull out loafers. Note the finely executed legs on this desk and the 15" wide board original planked back. This beautifully scaled desk is in very good overall condition having only two notable small veneer damages that are very easy repairs if you so desire to have this undertaken for you. We simply do not have time to haul this to our woodworker over such trivial issues. We have noted a very early replacement of a top left side case work molding which is photographed for your notation. This desk is 61" tall at the crest of its top arches, 39 ½" wide and 18" deep. We got a great buy on this piece and we are passing this on to you. These pieces always command $7,500-$15,000 at important American furniture sales and if it does not find a home quickly on eBay, the next time you will see it is at a cataloged NYC Important American Furniture Auction.
