Important oil painting on canvas from 1975 by well listed with many auction records, Romanian painter, Spiru Vergulescu(1934-2007). It measures 49.5x44.5 cm. The total size with the original frame, made by the artist, is 58.5x53.7 cm. It is signed and dated by the artist lower left "S. Vergulescu, 78". This expressive and modernistic style is typical of the artist's earlier work during the difficult times of the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. The period is the most sought after by collectors and dealers. It comes from an old estate in Manhattan NYC. Similar paintings by this artist fetch 2,000-3,000 Euros in the major Romanian auction houses and they retail for more in the galleries. U.S. buyer adds $40 for S/H/I.
