IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND 1942 Russian Anti-Nazi Playing Cards WWII Soviet Anti-Fascist Propaganda Playing Cards The originals of this deck virtually do not exist. They were saved from extinction by Alexander Lutkovsky reprinting this and certain other key propaganda decks in 2002 and 2003. Now, even the reproductions have become almost impossible to get your hands on. I managed to trade a few with him this past year Â- One is offered In the WWII propaganda war, the Russians beat us to it. During the killing winter of 1942 hundreds of thousands of German soldiers were dying on the Russian Front. The American propaganda nerds had not yet come up with playing cards as a secret weapon (Which I finally published last year posthumously as the Â"IN DER FUEHRERÂ'S FACE deckÂ"). Â... I have not been able to get the Russian captions on the cards translated into English, so you will have a challenge of your own. The Russian Propaganda Machine was on the ball, however. They designed a deck of cards that were to be distributed to German Soldiers in the frozen wastelands to try to convince them that their cause was hopeless. It showed war profiteers, greedy Military leaders, and Adolf himself. It emphasized that the German people back home were starving while they were freezing to death. Whether or not they ever printed the cards and got them into the hands of the beleaguered soldiers has not been determined (Sounds like our own the Iraqi War Criminals deck). In any event, the original artwork found its way to the presses recently, and a 36-card Skat deck of the cards was the result. Mint condition in original box. 2 Goebbels Jokers. 2 information cards.
