This auction is for a vintage Improved Order of the Redmen lapel pin. It was purchased at a local estate auction. This pin has a threaded screwback with a large button so it may be inserted through a lapel button hole without damaging the lapel. The pin is made out of gold covered with enamel. The enamel is white with red, white, blue, yellow, green, turquoise, and blue feathers. The headband on the headress is marked "TOTE" (Totem of the Eagle). The pin is approximately 3/8" in diameter. The pin is mounted on it's original cardboard mount embossed "Solid Gold" with the original price of $1.50 written in pencil on the back. The Improved Order of Redmen was founded in 1834 as a patriotic fraternal organization and can trace its origins to the Sons of Liberty prior to the start of the Revolutionary War.
