Inaugural Interleague MLB Tickets, June 12 & 13, 1997 UNIQUE I would be willing to bet a lot of money that no one has this lot of tickets. On Thursday, June 12, 1997, I got a hair-brained idea and stayed home from work. I called every stadium that was hosting an MLB Interleague baseball game on the 12th and 13th, which were the first two days of interleague play in the HISTORY of Major League Baseball. I bought one ticket for every game that was played on those two days — 14 in all. I simply asked for the least-expensive ticket and also asked that they simply mail me the ticket. I had to talk to a few of the ticket managers as the system wanted to send them to will-call since the time frame was so close to game time, but we made it work and I received all 14 tickets in the mail. This was back in the day before Stubhub and before ticket barcodes. Back then, the stubs were ripped off your ticket. So even if people saved their ticket stub from the inaugural Interleague games, they surely don't have the entire ticket and who else was weird enough to sit at home and order all 14 inaugural Interleague games from stadiums across the country? I've had this collection since then and, 16 years later, I am ready to part with the tickets. Included is a ticket from Olympic Stadium in Montreal for the Expos-Tigers game that is printed in French. read more
