Hi, I'm Hew. I have enjoyed collecting flow blue, polychrome and transferware since 1970. Alas, it is now necessary for me to simplify life, downsize and make a portion of my collection available to others. I have also placed several pieces in my antique shop booth. My first preference is to sell to my fellow eBayers, so please let me know ASAP if I need to retrieve this piece for you. Cheers! This is a remarkable, venerable and beautiful, polychromed flow blue floral pattern stoneware Staffordshire plate by Charles Meigh pottery, made between 1835 and 1849. This plate is 9 1/8" in diameter. The rim has an incredible scallop and embossing. The floral pattern is identified by number 1471. The quintessential cobalt blue flows well and is overpainted with green and burnt orange, and the icing on the cake is the amazing gold highlighting of the pattern elements and embossing and the light green ground at the rim. The effect is dramatic. Impressed on the back of the plate is the potter's mark including the wording Porcelain Opaque and the initials CM. This venerable plate is remarkably free of cracks, chips, flakes and repairs. T are extremely light utensil marks and crazing. The gold and polychroming is intact. The piece exhibits a solid ring when tapped. I have collected flow blue and polychrome since 1970, and I have found this piece to be especially versatile and to display nicely. In order to keep prices reasonable, I present these listings in a no frills manner. I also avoid playing with Reserve pricing. I strive to set a price that is fair, and to state clear and reasonable shipping costs. Shipping (basic, U.S.) for this plate will not exceed $8.50. I always pack carefully, however, insurance is always a good idea, and I will add this unless requested not to. Items can be combined for further savings on shipping.
