This auction is for a unique and very rare offering of a MODERNIST choker style necklace and earring set signed by ART SMITH. This is not my area of expertise but from my scant research he worked in the 1930's-50's time frame and had a shop in New York City and his work was displayed in many galleries. His work is very sought after and is considered "WEARABLE ART" rather than jewelry. I believe these pieces are made of brass but am not positive, the necklace is signed in two places but I did not find a signature on the very unusual earrings. It is a bit difficult to measure the necklace but it seems to be about 20" around the inside. On the left side of the necklace the piece is about 1 1/4" wide and the widest of the 2 smaller pieces on the right is almost 1". The pendant is about 5" long and 1" wide at its widest. The earrings are highly unusual and appear dissimiliar but when looked at closely one resembles the pendant of the necklace and the one with "alien eyes" resembles the two smaller pieces on the right side of the necklace. The longer earring is approx. 2 1/8" long and the other about 1 3/8" long. I have not altered this set in any manner myself and am selling it as found. I've provided many pictures. Possibly this set should be in a museum but it is on Ebay. S/h is $10.00 and insurance is required and based on the selling price of the item. We ship to the USA only.
