Antique patches from old, precious wedding saris & women dresses from India are patched together at random to create a collage like effect. The process of making the gold wire (zari) is extremely intricate and involves heating the gold wire and a silver bar in the furnace to form an alloy. Gold-coated silver wire is extruded from this alloy and this wire when wrapped around a silk thread forms ?zari?. Small patterns take days to finish.
