ORIGINAL Indiana Harvest Blue, Carnival Glass, Wedding Bowl, with cover. You are bidding on a gorgeous and quite scarce ORIGINAL wedding bowl, made by Indiana Glass Company in their Blue color Carnival Glass with the "harvest" pattern. It is a striking piece, to say the least. Indiana Glass company identifies this piece with number 2225. Aside from being absolutely stunning, this piece is rare. It's rarity lies in the fact that it comes from the 1st production runs of this pattern, which were designed so the cover could be placed into the foot of the bowl to act as a stabilizer and the bowl could then be inverted and become the pedastal to hold the matching Princess Punchbowl and cups from Indiana. Indiana revised their production shortly after starting, because t were problems with the fitting of the covers, and stability of the assembled punch-bowl configuration due to variations in the foot and in the cover. The revised cover has a 1/2 inch long nob added to the top of the finial, making it impossible to set the bowl on the cover. The cover fits absolutely perfectly on this copy and the piece is completely stable when setup in the punchbowl configuration. One of the accompanying photos shows it in the punch-bowl setup. Note that both the punchbowls; and, the wedding bowls werre also made in Green and Gold colors; however, ONLY the Blue color can be used as a pedastal for the punchbowl. This item was made circa 1972. This piece stands 10 1/2 inches tall to the top of the finial, the bowl is 7 inches in diameter and 3 1/2 inches deep. The foot is 4 inches in diameter, and the pedastal is 4 1/2 inches tall. T are two mould seams. Coming from a smoke and pet free environment, the colors are clear, vibrant, and bright. This piece is free of defects and is in MINT, excellent condition. The iridescence is extremely high. To the unfamiliar, the "Harvest" pattern consists of bunches of grapes and their leaves, simlar to the popular "grape and cable" pattern of other manufacturers. These are deeply cast onto this piece and their sharpness indicates that the mould was still quite new for this casting. The finial/knob on the cover, consists several bunches of grapes grouped into a cluster. Given that these original production bowls were only made for a short time, the number of them is quite limited. They are approximately 1/10 as frequently seen as the later production run, which lasted for a year. In other words, if you handle 10 of these bowls, only 1 of them will be from the original run, and then only about 25% of those have properly fitted lids and are stable in the punchbowl configuration.
