I have for sale now a 1939 Indiana motorcycle license plate, number X 218, a very low number. It is in fair condition. It has two extra holes drilled into it, back in the day. I have 3 other plates from the same source, and they all were drilled the same way, to fit the owner's bike no doubt. The paint is kind of dirty and dull, but very little is missing. I am sure it would improve a lot with a cleaning and waxing, but I prefer to sell it as is, let the new owner do what they want. It is a bit warped, and t are cracks around the upper holes. The right side is somewhat serious, it starts at the edge, and is about 1 1/2 inches long, it goes almost all the way to the black ridge at the top edge. It avoids the 9 in 39, going around it. The number acts like a strengthening ridge, making the crack avoid it. The left side is much better, the crack starts in the original hole and goes along the bottom of the extra hole and stops at the ridge near the top of the plate. It looks like it got folded over and straightened between the numbers and the word Indiana, but not too badly. Email with any questions or a pic of the back. NO RESERVE beyond my opening price, someone is going to win. No return on this, I think it is quite obvious what it is and what condition it is in, I don't see much room for misunderstanding. ASK for pics if unsure! One thing I find interesting about these 4 plates I am selling this week is: the EVEN year plates have "Indiana" at the bottom, the ODD year plates have "Indiana" at the top. Perhaps a law enforcement requirement to keep scofflaws from repainting their plates, at least making them wait 2 years? Whatever.
