Aug. 23, 1861. Discahrged Dec. 6, 1863. Promoted Capt. Jun. 27, 1862 of Co. "I". Born Pelham, NH. Post war lived in Waltham, Mass. His unit fought at GETTYSBURG! ========================================================================= Original Civil War Manual - " INSTRUCTION / FOR / HEAVY ARTILLERY / PREPARED BY A / BOARD OF OFFICERS, / FOR THE USE OF THE / ARMY OF THE UNITED STATES. / 1862 " Inscribed on inner front fly leaf "Chas. S. Burnham / Capt 3rd NH Vols / Cemely Co (II)". - 247 pages with an additional 39 pages of illustrated plates. Condition: Good and tightly bound. Displays normal age toning as to be expected. Original hard cover binding shows considerable wear, especially to the spine and edges. Front fly leaf has various penciled names written on it and is partially separated. Obviously a previous owner had found a picture of Capt. Burnham, copied it in small format and pasted it on the fly page which bears his inscription of ownership. - Please study closely the provided photographs and ask any questions you may have, for YOU must be the final judge!
