This is an interesting early 20th century, WW1 period "Rapid" Gas Leak detector Patent: No 6058 by Pastorelli & Rapkin Ltd, 46 Hatton Garden, London. No: 1908. The instrument is principaly made of laquered brass and is of lovely quality. I have no idea of how the instrument works, it appears to have a filter at the bottom and a paper dial marked in percentages for explosive and non - explosive. The Instrument measures approx. 60mm in diameter and stands approx. 80mm high. It comes in its original leather case, which is severley damaged / worn and would need repaired.
