Civil War ambrotype photo of a soldier, wearing epaulets & crossbelt, militia jacket & proudly holding his huge plumed shakpo, front bearing the lettering "DSG", for "Davenport Sarsfield Guards". Inside case ink inscribed "HJ Gorman Davenport Iowa take n Washingtons Birthday Feb 22 1860". Image vg w gilt mat, full case. Approx 3 x 2 3/4". Comes w info re the unit- an Irish militia company, many oif the Guard served during the War.
