1 owner purchased at Khouri's Oriental Rug Hyannis, MA on Cape Cod. The rug has never been washed and is absolutely mint. This rug has been in my summer home since new for the past 4 years and has never been walked on with shoes or sneakers of any sort. It's clean like it was since woven. I visit the home a few times off season and once a week during season so the rug has no wear whatsoever.
Hand-woven with fine hand-spun wool by families who reside in Kashan region located in Central Iran. See this link for info and a pic of the typical theme of woven rugs intrinsic to Kashan. You will easily be able to identify a Kashan Perian rug from the wiki pic as easy as it is to identify an antique Kerman Iranian issue like the one I have listed in a separate auction. If you are looking for a gorgeous Iranian rug consider this one because the price is only going up on genuine Iranian rugs. Reason being, because of UN sanctions against Iran, no Iranian persian rugs are currently being imported in the USA - the prices are going through the roof. Visit your local high-end oriental dealer to witness it yourself. /wiki/Kashan I don't know the exact knots per square inch but the rug is very tightly woven and all hand-knotted (see pic with tape measure). I would say close to KPSI if not more. Exact size is 4'4" X 6'9". I purchased this rug for $1600 (it was marked down from $3995) in 2007.
